Long Range Ultrasonic Testing

Long Range Ultrasonic Testing (LRUT) sometimes referred to as Guide Wave Ultrasonic Testing (GWUT) is an Advanced Non Destructive examination technique that was developed for testing large volumes of material from a single test point. What differentiates this from more traditional methods of ultrasonic testing is that, with LRUT, a liquid couplant between transducers and the surface is not required. For this reason LRUT is one of the fastest inspection tools for carrying out pipeline surveys for corrosion and other damage mechanisms.

Why use Long Range Ultrasonic Testing (LRUT)

Pipes are renowned for corroding in inaccessible areas. Whether underground or above ground, these areas may often go unnoticed. Our API 570 certified inspectors carry out pipeline integrity inspections using multiple techniques including visual checks and Long Range Ultrasonic Thickness surveys (LRUT) and provide a complete report of the piping system, highlighting any issues that require attention.

LRUT is performed using a system which is made up of a low frequency flaw detector, a pulser receiver unit, some transducer rings, and a laptop computer which contains the software that controls the system.

LRUT is an invaluable Non Destructive testing technique that has applications throughout the oil and gas industry. It is widely used in the inspection of pipes in areas such as road and river crossings, power plant tubing, risers, offshore topside pipework, jetty lines, and refinery pipework for the detection of issues such as corrosion under insulation. It has also found widespread use in situations where pipes or tubes are not accessible to other detection methods such as for pipes buried in soil, those encased in a sleeve, or those positioned at a high elevation.

Camera Inspection Services

Intrinsically safe robotic cameras technology has become the speedy, cost-effective method for Oilfield, Processing, and Industrial Companies.

Introducing OZIII, The OZIII camera provides up to 120:1 optical/digital zoom, automatic focus, as well as remote focus and iris control, to assure the best quality video within varying pipe conditions.

The OZIII optical zoom pan-and-tilt camera offers built-in directional field-replaceable lighting for 6”-72” (152 -1829 mm) pipe to produce the highest quality image details of your CCTV pipeline inspection.

Use the OZIII camera with the CUES steerable Compact Pipe Ranger (CPR) to inspect 6” (152 mm) relined through 48” (1219 mm) sanitary and storm sewers. OZIII connects directly to the CPR transporter with no exterior wires or cables. The OZIII camera include an optional sonde to accurately locate the camera in metallic and non-metallic pipes! An optional inclinometer is also available for inclination surveys.

  • 10X optical zoom and 12X digital zoom; total 120:1 zoom capability enhances image details from faraway distances.
  • 0.4 MP; higher image resolution means sharper pictures with maximum detail.
  • 360 x 285 degree pan and rotate viewing capability; pan and tilt simultaneously while the transporter moves!
  • Field-replaceable cool white LED lighting for 6”-72” (152-1829 mm) lines with optional external lightheads; internal lights are directional with the moving camera head for optimum illumination in various pipeline conditions.
  • Gamepad control of focus, iris, and shutter allows the operator to compensate for pipe conditions.
  • Pan, rotate, zoom, and focus homing feature; quick and easy to reorient to the current location.
  • Optical-grade sapphire camera window helps prevent image distortion.
  • Includes an internal diagnostic system.
  • Options: 512 Hz sonde for locating and inclinometer for inclination surveys.
  • Can be used in pipelines as small as (or from the smallest pipe) 5” (127 mm) in diameter.
